Doctor Who is the longest running science fiction television series of all time. It started in 1963 and went off air in 1989. However, it aired again on BBC in 2005, and has continued to ever since. There are many important things and themes in Doctor Who, which I will cover in a later blog post, but I am going to focus on the sets and scenery of the show. The creators of the show really have done an outstanding job on making Doctor Who a very visually pleasing series. I love to literally watch it. It is a true miracle on how much special effects technology has transformed and improved in the last fifty years. In fact, I believe that in the first Doctor Who episodes, the TARDIS “traveling” was actually a small box hanging from a string, being dragged across a starry background.
